I believe being a good writer is a very important skill to have, no matter what you do in your life. Personally I think I am an ok writer, but I have a problem with using the right grammar with sentences. I think good grammar is one of the most important things it takes to right well. Along with grammar, I think putting your opinion in your writing can make a good difference, and having your topics run together smoothly is important to.
Starting with the the least important of the three, but still important(in my opinion) I think putting your own opinion into your writing can help a lot. When you put your own opinion into your writing I think it shows the reader that you know what your talking about and you care about it. Which should make it more interesting. Instead of just using facts or someone Else's opinion.
The second most important thing it takes to write well is making sure your topics run together smoothly. When your paragraphs, or even your sentences jump around, it gets hard to follow. Which then may make the reader loose concentration and maybe not even read your writing. Plus when your writing runs together smoothly and has good segways into new ideas it makes it so much easier to read in my opinion.
Finally the most important thing it takes to write well is using good grammar. From past experiences your writing could have the best ideas in it but if it uses bad grammar the reader will most likely not like it. For example the past 2 research papers I have done in school have killed me because the grammar in the papers was horrible evidently. I would always get one hundred percent on the content of the paper, and end up with a C or D because of all the grammar mistakes. Plus in the real world, like on a resume for example, using correct grammar makes it seem much more professional than if every other sentence has a mistake.
In conclusion I believe the 3 most important things to writing are, putting your own opinion into your writing, having your sentences and paragraphs run together smoothly, and using correct grammar. If a writer makes sure that they have these three things in the next thing they write, they are bound to have a good piece of writing on their hands.

Thanks for being honest. Your troubles with grammar interest me because as you are actually talking about it, you are making mistakes. BUT, the mistakes are DEFINITELY ones you wouldn't make if you proofread. For instance, a capital letter in the middle of a sentence, or "the grammar was horribly evidently." You can do this--I know you can. It takes time, and perhaps that is the issue.

As for the other issues you mention, you are correct. For one, no matter what field one is in, good writing is a must, and two, organization is key.

I would suggest one change: opinions alone don't make writing good; EDUCATED opinions do. Otherwise, you could just be reading opinionated ignorance!

One more thing: make sure you read directions. You had to comment to another student's post. In future weeks, you must comment to TWO other classmates.
