These songs don't all have a particular meaning to me, but some of them do. Some are just fun songs that remind me of certain times in my life, but they are all very good songs.
1. Taylor Swift ; Picture to Burn
I really like this song because the lyrics are funny. The song is about a girl whose boyfriend broke up with her, and all of the things she could do to get back at him. The best line of the song is in the beginning, "So go and tell your friends I'm obsessive and crazy. That's fine I'll tell mine you're gay." I love that line. Another great line talks about how she is going to get revenge by going out with all of her ex-boyfriend's friends. This song is just a great upbeat song that really gets stuck in your head.
2. Ne-Yo ; Mad
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I really like this song because I have been in this situation several times with my boyfriend. The situation is a couple has been fighting and they don't even remember what they are fighting about and no one is winning. It talks about the stubbornness of both people and how they won't back down or let it go even though they don't know what the problem is. In the chorus he says that people are going to fight sometimes, but he does not want to go to bed mad at her. I just really like the lyrics and I find a lot of truth in them because I think it is a very common situation.
3. Breathe ; Lee Carter
I just heard this song recently but I loved it as soon as i heard the lyrics. The song is about really loving someone so much, you know you want to spend the rest of your life with them, and you can't live without them. "Your the reason that I breathe" is the main line in the chorus. It goes on saying that it is amazing that one person can make you care about them so much and they truly complete you. He goes on saying that his life would be incomplete without her, and if you are in a relationship you should tell the person you love that they are your world. This song is just such a good love song that actually focuses about true love, not anything sexual, which is not very common anymore.
4. Stand ; Rascal Flatts
This has always been a favorite song of mine. It is such an inspirational song that always lifts me up if i need it. The song is about going through a tough time in your life, such as feeling defeated or alone. It says that when things get hard you learn how far you can push yourself and in the end you can push through the hard times on your own. You are in control of your own life and you need to take advantage of opportunities you might have. Each time you go through a hard time you learn more about yourself and become a stronger person. I love Rascal Flatts and this song is very motivational and good when you need a little push in life.
5. What is Love ; Haddaway
This may seem like a strange song, but I could not live withoutit. I watched the movie A Night at the Roxbury with my best friend and ever since then we have loved it. It is an upbeat song and when you see the part of the movie that it is played with it is hilarious. I have this song as my ringtone for my best friend, and it is the song in the Pepsi commercial. The song basically says [over and over again] that he can't go on without her and she is all he wants, but he does not want to get hurt. It is a great dance song and it's a good laugh, especially when you hear it in the movie.
6. Amazed ; Lonestar
This is my all time favorite love song. The song talks about all of the feelings you get when you look into the eyes or touch the person you love and how amazing it is. The lyrics go on saying that the love he has for the girl keeps getting stronger and stronger everyday. He loves everything about this girl, from how she smells, her hair, and ultimately, her heart. I really like the lyrics and how they tell how perfect love can be when you find the person you want to marry. It is the perfect love song and I personally think it would be a great wedding song.
7. When I Get Where I'm Going ; Brad Paisley ft. Dolly Parton
This song is extremely sad the first few times you hear it. I still tear up sometimes when I hear it. He talks about going to heaven after he dies, and how it is a beautiful thing, not a sad thing. He does not want the people he is leaving behind to mourn and cry for him because he will no longer have to bare the struggles and hardships he faced during life. The saddest part of the song, for me, is when he talks about walking with his grandfather. I was very close with both of my grandfathers, who have both passed away, and this part is usually where it gets me. The lyrics say that when he gets to heaven, he will walk with his grandfather and talk to him about how much he missed him after he passed away. At the end he talks about meeting "his maker" and standing in his presence and how amazing it will be. Overall the song is about the beauty of heaven and we should celebrate life, not mourn death.
8. I'm Still A Guy ; Brad Paisley
This song is made to be a humerous song. It is about how guys see everything different than girls do. A girl may see a lake and think of a picnic, but a guy thinks of the fish he could catch in it. No matter what you do to try to change them, they will always just be a guy. He will do nice things for her like hold her bags and hold her hand, but a second later he would beat up someone for "copping a feel". The end is the best part. It talks about how some guys are doing some things that are stereotypical girl things, such as tanning and plucking their eyebrows, but he will not compromise his manhood and the line he uses is "I still have a pair", which is a little inappropriate, but comical. I really like the comedy in this song and it is a good country song, and I could not live without a good country song.
9. Mockingbird ; Eminem
Eminem is an amazing artist. His lyrics come straight from his life, which has not been an easy one. This song is for his daughter Hailie. He is reassuring her that no matter what is going on, whether it be with him and her mother, everything will be okay. He talks about how every house they lived in kept getting broken into, and a jar of money her mom was saving for her got stolen, and it broke her heart. Her mother developed a drug addiction when he made it big with his rap career. Eminem wants his daughter to be strong and not worry. It refers to the Mockingbird lullaby, but he really just wants his daughter to know that he will always be here to protect her and provide for her. I really admire the dedication and love Eminem has for his daughter, he honestly would do anything for her.
10. Wannabe ; Spice Girls
This song is pretty much a classic. What girl who grew up in the 90's didn't like this song at one point? The song says that if you wanna be with someone, you have to be able to get along with their friends because friends come first. Also it says that you have to be willing to give something to the relationship, not just take. The song reminds us that friendship is forever and relationships may just be for a little while. I think more people need to listen to the lyrics of this song because too many people shut out their friends when they are in a relationship. Especially in high school, most of the relationships will be over by the time you graduate so why throw away a possible life long friend? Most people do not look at this song as deeply as they should because it is a fun, upbeat song that reminds us of the old days. (:

Your reasons for each song were good, and I think that the story lines of each song was well explained. I am not familiar with all of the songs, but I know most of the artists. I enjoy some of the songs from Rascal Flats and Ne Yo. It was nice that you had songs from all of the different genres, and I liked how they had different emotions like funny and sad. That way you will have variety on the island.
I really liked your purpose for each song, as well as the songs you chose. They were perfect for different moods you may be in foreshadowing what music you would want to listen to. I also liked a lot of the songs you chose like "Picture to Burn" and "Mad" they are always good to listen to!
In your blog, I was really able to relate and understand all of the songs you choose because I am familiar with them and enjoy them myself. I enjoyed what you wrote about each one, and I was very much able to relate. My favorite on there was "Amazed" by Lonestar. Nice job :)
